Project scope

At EQ System, I took on the role of design team lead, overseeing a cross-functional team responsible for designing two complex, enterprise-grade applications from the ground up – starting with product discovery and ending with high-fidelity handoff.

The first product was a SaaS platform focused on HR and recruitment process management for mid-sized and large organizations. It aimed to simplify hiring pipelines, candidate evaluations, and internal role management.

The second was an industrial-grade planning tool for managing production processes in factories operating 24/7. It allowed supervisors to assign employees with specific competencies to the right machines, ensuring production continuity and minimizing downtime.

Although different in function, both systems were designed to interoperate, forming a connected ecosystem that allowed companies to align workforce planning with production goals.

Both products also included AI-driven features – from intelligent candidate ranking and automated suggestions in the HR platform to predictive maintenance and competency-based worker-machine pairing in the production system. We were responsible for designing and implementing these AI experiences to feel seamless and supportive rather than overwhelming.

My responsibilities included facilitating stakeholder workshops, defining product vision, managing the design team’s output, and creating a shared component library to ensure consistency across both platforms.

Project goals

The primary goal was to redesign and optimize all existing digital services offered by BIK, while also designing three completely new products. A significant challenge was building and implementing a unified design system to support the entire ecosystem across the organization.

Design two interconnected applications from scratch

Create two enterprise-level digital products – one for HR/recruitment and one for factory operations, ensuring they seamlessly communicate as part of one ecosystem.

Simplify complex workflows

Translate deeply technical, high-risk processes (e.g., machine assignments, shift planning, role management) into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that reduce cognitive load and training time.

Build trust through AI-enhanced features

Design AI-driven tools that support – not replace human decisions. Ensure users understand and trust automated suggestions, whether in candidate scoring or machine allocation.

Ensure system scalability and modularity

Create a unified design system that supports rapid growth, long-term maintainability, and visual consistency across both applications.

Challange

The primary goal of the project was to design and deliver two integrated enterprise platforms that streamline workforce management and production planning for industrial clients. Our mission was to transform complex internal processes – from recruitment to machine allocation – into intuitive, efficient, and human-centered digital experiences.

Beyond functionality, we aimed to introduce AI in a way that enhanced decision-making without disrupting user trust. Building a scalable design system, aligning with business strategy, and delivering clear, accessible interfaces across two vastly different use cases were all core challenges we sought to solve.
